About
Diana Andersen
Diana began her artistic career with a Bachelor of Arts in Design and Photography. After graduating, she became a practising contemporary jewellery designer, often exhibiting her work in group and solo exhibitions. She achieved multiple awards for her work and had pieces acquired by some of Australia’s leading collections, including the Western Australian Art Gallery, Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, and the Diamond Valley Art Collection. In addition, Diana’s work was selected to represent Australia in overseas art awards in SoHo, New York and Kyoto, Japan. While producing exhibition work, Diana also taught in the Visual Arts Degree course at Curtin University before leaving to run her own design business.
Diana grew up with dogs and other pets and always had a passion for animals. There was always a battle between art and animals in the background. Eventually, she made a career change to work with animals full-time. She had been a wildlife carer specialising in birds and joined Perth Zoo as a full-time keeper. During this time, Diana became passionate about animal education, both animal care and wildlife conservation. The camera that had been gathering dust came out again to illustrate the books and articles she began to write for magazine and book publishers and her own company, Animalinfo Publications.
Years on, photography has become a passion. Capturing the bond between animals and their people has become a feature of her pet photography. In recognising the power of an image to raise awareness of wildlife issues, photography has become a focus in her wildlife conservation articles. Her wildlife imagery has allowed her to combine a love of animals and art in her images. In addition, they help her share the beauty and fragility of what she sees through her eyes and lens in the articles she writes for her websites.
